Bogman (Victoria, B.C.)

Affliations: Connecting Circles, Gauntlet Records

Since moving to Victoria from Winnipeg in 2008, Bogman has built a solid reputation as a skilled producer and discriminating selector of dub and ragga-influenced bass music. Equally at home playing ragga-jungle, half-time dnb, footwork, techno, roots reggae, dub, or dancehall, Bogman keeps the vibe deep and serious, and can crush a dancefloor at any tempo. He appeared frequently at Hush Nightclub’s Theory Thursday nights, warming up for some of the west coast’s top DJs, held down a lengthy residency at the Reef Caribbean restaurant, and got to play an all-hardware dub techno set at 2015’s Rifflandia festival. In the studio, synth-obsessed Bogman crafts proper ragga-jungle, with deep rolling basslines and expertly-chopped amens, footwork, and dark, dub-influenced techno. His debut EP is now available on Gauntlet Records.

Submit (Regina, SK)

Submit has been Djing for almost 20 years in the Saskatchewan electronic dance music scene. A veteran of Connect Festival and running one of the longest standing weekly electronic nights in Western Canada he is no stranger on the decks. His love and passion for the music and the scene shines through in his performances time and time again. Submit will be bringing a variety of genres to this event, mainly detroit techno, ghetto-tech, footwork, french house, and chicago house.

Jeff Prankev

Affiliations: Skylab records, Gold N Tech Records, Smash N’ Grab

Jeff Prankev (formerly known as “Dislexik”) has been playing with electronic music in various forms since 1994. What started as a hobby, producing music slowly grew into an obsession and by the late 90’s he bought his first CD deck and turntables to incorporate his growing music collection into live performances.

His background was originally as a drummer and around the turn of the millennium he joined horror-rock outfit “The New Jacobin Club” as their drummer and programmer. He performed and recorded with them for seven years and still collaborates with them on occasion.
In 2004 he released his first original 12” on Pure Funk Recordings, a Toronto-based breakbeat label. He continued to release breaks tracks for the next few years and received support from artists such as The Crystal Method, DJ Icey, Far Too Loud and Myagi.

In 2008 he decided to study music production at Alchemea College in London, UK. While traveling Europe, he began moving away from breakbeat and returning to his techno and house roots.
When he returned to Canada he changed gears and started to release and perform music along those lines, signing first with The Incredible Melting Man’s Gold N Tech label. He has released a string of acclaimed EPs through that label and has had several tracks picked up by the Straight Up! compilation series. Since then he has also released music with System Recordings, Traffic Records, Flavourite, Pyramid Recordings, Truespin Records, and Pop & Lock, Smash N’ Grab and Skylab Records.

He currently lives in Saskatoon, SK, Canada where he continues to perform and produce music, also working as a production instructor and electronics technologist.

Saucer

Bringing together disparate influences like ghetto house, jungle, bass music, and trip hop, Lewis Casey’s constantly evolving Saucer project intends to excite, confuse, and inspire. The constant redefinition of rhythm while maintaining a deep, tangible connection with the beat is a core objective. With a focus on drum synthesis, nonstandard sampling, and polyrhythm, sets typically catapult into unexpected directions. Saucer brings an alien, visceral, yet empathetic experience to the dance floor.

VJ Carrie Gates

Carrie Gates’ video mixing works use sound-reactive 3D processing and unusual rhythmic juxtapositions to create throbbing, psychedelic, responsive compositions that add a new dimension of interaction and intrigue to any environment. Abstract digital imagery is mixed live with hand-shot, performance-art-influenced footage, to create a hypnotizing, bent reality that is infused with concepts of visual music, set in a glitched-out 3.0 fantasy realm. She has created tour visuals for artists such as Girl Talk and Nicky Click, as well as music videos for artists such as Venetian Snares, Annie Hall, and DJ Kero. Gates’ video work is in the permanent collection of the Whitney Museum of American Art. She has played an active role in experimental electronic music communities and independent artist-run organizations since the mid-1990s.
